Marco A. Chacón, Ph.D. – Founder, CEO & President

Dr. Chacón is the founder, president and CEO of Paragon Bioservices, Inc.. With 30+ years of research laboratory experience and 20 years of executive experience, Dr. Chacón has the depth, energy and personal commitment to transform biotech startups to commercially-viable enterprises. His board positions include the Greater Baltimore Technology Council, the Tech Council of Maryland’s MD Bio division and the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) Biotechnology Advisory Board.
He also founded a regenerative medicine company, Irazu Biodiscovery, in 2000—which was based on his research, patents portfolio and scientific insights regarding the mechanism of calorie-restriction protection. Dr. Chacón received his BS degree from Youngstown State University and a Ph.D. in Nutritional Sciences from the University of Maryland, College Park.
Robert Eberwein – Senior Vice President, GMP Operations
Mr. Eberwein joined Paragon in 2007 and brings over 25 years of biopharmaceutical manufacturing experience and knowledge to Paragon. Prior to joining Paragon, Mr. Eberwein spent eight years as the head of GMP manufacturing at Cambrex producing a variety of bulk biologics for use in Phase I through Phase III clinical trials as well as commercial launch.
He began his career in the Frederick Cancer Research Facility (Fort Detrick) spending 11 years in microbial fermentation and natural products isolation/purification. From there, he continued his work in protein and vaccine production at companies such as Becton Dickinson, North American Vaccine and Cambrex Baltimore, a contract manufacturing organization. Mr. Eberwein obtained a B.A. in Biology from Hood College in Frederick, Maryland.
Vadim Klyushnichenko, PhD
Vice President, Preclinical Services and Process Development

Dr Klyushnichenko has more than 15 years of experience in biopharmaceutical project management, analytical development and formulation, process development, engineering and scale-up from pilot to GMP manufacturing, technology transfer and US and EU Regulatory Filing.
He developed his managerial and scientific background working as Vice President of Drug Development at both Terapio (Austin, TX) and Coldstream Laboratories, Lab Head at Wyeth BioPharma (Pfizer), and Senior Scientist positions at Epic Therapeutics (Baxter), Altus Biologics in Boston and Aventis/Sanofi Pasteur.
Dr Klyushichenko received his M.S., Engineering from Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, and a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the Shemyakin Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry in Moscow. His additional research in Analytical Biochemistry and Process Development includes the Humboldt University in Berlin, the University of Dusseldorf and the Biotechnology Research Institute in Montreal.
He is a Certified Professional Project Manager (PMP/PMI) and holds a Certificate of Special Studies in Administration and Management from Harvard.
Ronald A. J. Wilson – CFO
Mr. Wilson has over 40 years of financial accounting and tax experience. He is a former partner of KPMG and Ernst & Young, having worked in New York, Paris, Boston and Baltimore specializing in private and small public technology companies. Mr. Wilson is a graduate of Harvard College (BA, 1966) and New York University (MS-Accounting, 1972). His Board roles have included Avedis Zildjian Company, Combined Health Agencies (Board Chair) and the Greater Baltimore Technology Council (Treasurer).
