Immunohistochemistry - Routine
This service involves the use of an existing protocol, either provided by Paragon or submitted by the contracting laboratory.  Human tissue must be provided by the client, whereas normal rodent tissue or mouse embryos may be purchased from Paragon.  This service is priced on a per slide basis.
  • Staining performed using pre-determined dilution of primary antibody
  • Pre-immune plus and minus primary antibody negative control are included

Immunohistochemistry - Gene Discovery
This service involves the optimization of immunostaining.  The optimization includes titration of the primary antibody, selection and optimization of secondary reagents (e.g. Alk. Phos., HRP, fluorescence, or biotinylated conjugates), optimization of detection, evaluation by light or fluorescence microscopy, and photographic documentation of positive results.
  • Titration of Primary and Secondary Antibodies
  • Optimization of Immunostain including antigen retrieval (with and without steam) protease digestion, and a 4-dilution run-which equals 12 slides plus a negative control
  • Optimization of detection and counterstain

Immunohistochemistry for the Neurosciences

  • 20 to 40 µm sections
  • Sections are "floated", stained (Silver, H&E, or Immuno) and mounted.
  • Mouse, rat, primate and human brains
Immunohistochemistry - Double Labeling
This service attempts to simultaneously identify two different gene products in the same tissue section.
