Electron Microscopy Services have been designed at Paragon Bioservices to support research protocols performed at Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology companies as well as Academic Laboratories spanning the fields of Virology, Cell Biology and Gene Therapy.
All contracted services are performed by experienced scientists (Ph.D., MD-Ph.D.) and technicians qualified to review pertinent literature and to make recommendations to the contracting laboratory.
Superior technical expertise and familiarity with the scientific objectives of our clients is the cornerstone of Paragon's success in Electron Microscopy Services.
TEM service
A complete TEM service includes all processing, embedding, thick and thin sectioning, as well as microscopic analysis. Following the transmission and/or scanning EM, photographic documentation (10-12 8x10 photographs) of important morphologies will be provided to the contraction laboratory.
Routine negative staining for TEM includes processing of the samples, application on to grids, microscopic analysis of surface morphology, and photographic documentation. Quantitative negative staining also involves the counting of particles, including viruses. Statistical analysis is also performed.
Immunogold labeling is a method used for the localization of specific antigens at the EM level. Samples are fixed (using lower concentrations of glutaraldehyde), processed, and sectioned. The grids are immunostained using an antigen-specific primary antibody followed by a gold-labeled secondary antibody. Electron-dense gold particles localize to the desired antigens within ultastructural components and organelles of cells.
